Position Summary
The Employment Specialist supports individuals in obtaining and maintaining meaningful employment by providing career coaching, job readiness training, employer engagement, and ongoing placement support. This role bridges workforce development services with employer needs to create sustainable employment outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Client Support & Case Management
- Conduct intake assessments to evaluate employment history, skills, interests, and barriers.
- Develop individualized employment and career plans.
- Provide one-on-one career coaching and goal setting.
- Maintain accurate client records and case documentation.
- Monitor client progress and adjust plans as needed.
Job Readiness & Workforce Preparation
- Deliver training on resume development, applications, and interview skills.
- Provide workplace readiness instruction (professional communication, punctuality, attire, soft skills).
- Support digital literacy and online job search strategies.
- Coordinate workshops and employment preparation sessions.
Employer & Community Engagement
- Build relationships with local employers and workforce partners.
- Identify job leads, internship opportunities, and career pathways.
- Match qualified candidates to employer needs.
- Coordinate hiring events, job fairs, and recruitment activities.
- Collaborate with outreach and program staff on workforce initiatives.
Job Placement & Retention
- Assist clients with job applications and placement processes.
- Provide post-placement follow-up and retention support.
- Mediate workplace challenges when necessary.
- Track employment outcomes and retention metrics.
Program Support
- Assist with workforce program reporting and performance metrics.
- Support grant deliverables related to employment outcomes.
- Participate in team meetings and strategic planning.
- Ensure services align with organizational mission and funding requirements.
Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Workforce Development, Social Work, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience in workforce development, career services, case management, or staffing.
- Experience working with diverse or underserved populations preferred.
- Knowledge of job placement and workforce systems.
- Strong coaching and motivational skills.
- Professional communication and employer engagement ability.
- Case management and documentation proficiency.
- Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and online job platforms.
Work Environment
- Combination of office, community, and employer-site work.
- Local travel may be required.
